Stop facebook from Tracking your Every Move

Do you facebook? (Yeah, I used it as a verb!)  Do you use Google Chrome?  Are you sick of facebook tracking your every move across the web?  Are you sick of various sites having access to your facebook information?  If you answered ‘yes’, you may want to consider trying the Chrome extension, Facebook Disconnect.  Yes, it does access information, but only in order to remove your facebook info from sites that use ‘facebook connect’, or are otherwise accessing your facebook information.

Once again, our chosen settings are irrelevant.  Even if you have chosen to NOT allow facebook to use “Facebook Connect” across the web, facebook still provides, or gives access to, that information to partnership sites and otherwise.  Personally, I’m just not down with that!

So far, this extension has received very good reviews, and the “stop facebook” community seems to be quite happy with it.  (And that includes me.)  Facebook Disconnect may work a little differently for different folks because of settings, etc.  So, test it out, and see if it works well for you.  Happy Blocking!

  1. Anita, I am definitely concerned with internet privacy. I will have to check into Google Chrome. Personally, I do not know anything about it…but my husband may. Thanks for the information! Carolyn H.

      Hello, Carolyn!

Most browsers do have ways (add-ins, etc.) to help increase safe browsing. It’s pretty much a matter of which settings you choose. I prefer Chrome because I’m a Google baby, and because their browsers don’t contain a lot of the bloat found in other browsers; therefore, it’s faster.

This particular post is about an extension that currently can only be added to the Chrome browser. Regardless of the browser you choose to use, just be sure to watch your settings, and always keep it updated.

Thanks for stopping by and voting!
